About Us
We aim to make St Peter’s a church where you can feel at home. We have a wide range of activities and groups for all ages, providing numerous ways for everyone to engage in the life of the church.
Whilst serving the village of Edgmond, we are committed to being a church for the wider community, and wherever you are living you are very welcome at St Peter’s. We also share the Rector and a number of activities with the churches in Preston on the Wealdmoors, Kynnersley, Tibberton, Bolas Magna, and Waters Upton.
Throughout the year the church celebrates several important festivals starting with Advent, looking forward to the birth of Christ on Christmas Day and his resurrection on Easter Day. On a Sunday there is a choice of services at 7 45am and 10.30am and there are also services in the other six churches. A 9.30 am morning service also takes place on Thursday in Edgmond.
Family life is reflected in the high number of baptisms, marriages and sadly the funerals that take place in the Church.
You can contact various members of the church depending upon your particular interest by e-mail, making the e-mail for the attention of the representatives included under Contact Us. In the Edgmond Parish Magazine telephone numbers are also available for this purpose. You will be sure of a friendly and helpful response.
In everything we do as a Church we want it to be a place where people can make friendships, explore the Christian faith and find support and encouragement for life – whatever stage you are at.
We place a high emphasis in discovering God’s purpose through Bible reading, worship and prayer and in caring for our neighbours locally and throughout the world.
We very much look forward to being able to share our faith and activities with you and the community in Edgmond and further afield.
Our Faith
The Scriptures and the Gospels, provide the basis of our faith:
The Old and New Testaments contain all things necessary for salvation and are the rule and ultimate standard of our faith. The Apostles’ and Nicene creeds are the statements of our Christian faith The two sacraments ordained by Christ himself – Baptism and the Supper of the Lord (Holy Communion) – are administered with unfailing use of Christ’s words of institution, and the elements are ordained by him.
